Joel Embiid surgery scheduled (finally)

There's a great scene in the movie Captain Phillips where Somali pirate Muse boards the Maersk Alabama and informs Captain Phillips that 'I am the captain now.'

Now, replace Muse with Joel Embiid, Captain Phillips with Nerlens Noel, and the Maersk Alabama with the Sixers, and you get a basic understanding of what happened prior to Embiid's latest setback.


According to Yahoo!'s Marc Spears, Embiid was playing very well in workouts prior to his recent setback that necessitated a second surgery, and once after getting the best of Noel while practicing he told him that 'this is my team now.'

Unfortunately however, it won't be his team for at least another season, as Spears also reported that Embiid would undergo his second surgery on Tuesday, August 18th, ending the speculation as to when it would actually occur.

Embiid has another long season of rehab and recovery in front of him, but finally the speculation surrounding his second surgery and why he hasn't had it yet are over.
