Evan Turner curses at the camera, and other things that may or may not have happened at Sixers Media Day 2013

At Media Day yesterday, the Sixers announced their new slogan for the 2013-14 campaign:

Passionate – Intense – Lottery Bound.

The media members in attendance agreed that the slogan was fitting for the current state of the franchise.

Shortly after the event started, Royce White took to the podium. White informed the team that he would not only be willing to fly with them to games, but that he would also pilot the plane!

“I had a lot of time to myself last season,” White stated, “so I figured becoming comfortable not only being in a plane, but actually flying one would be beneficial at some point*."

Maybe this is what he meant when he said he hopes to ‘contribute’ this season.

This revelation nearly started a riot with Rocket fans, who were seen throughout Friday night huddled around a life-size statue of Dwight Hoaward, burning any remaining Royce memorabilia.

Sam Hinkie just smiled to himself.

While many of the players posed for pictures, Spencer Hawes show-cased his improved shooting and dribbling skills at one end of the floor. Hawes stands as one of the team's most accomplished three-point shooters, and may push the coaches to give him some time at point guard this season.

On the other end of the floor, Jason Richardson and Kwame Brown held a contest.. an eating contest. By the time Media Day wrapped, there was still no clear winner, and the two vowed to compete throughout the course of the season. If you are ever curious who is leading the contest throughout the season, just look to the set of suits sitting on the Sixers’ sideline and see which one seems to be slightly snugger. This competition is sure to entertain all season.

No Media Day is complete without some player quotes, so naturally Evan Turner stole the show.

Turner, who sounds sort of like a frog-robot early in the morning, took the microphone, covered it as though he were on stage at a rap concert, and uttered a low, long “motherfuuuuckkkeerrr” on air to a live audience.

Visibly embarrassed by his um, slip up, Turner apologized awkwardly, and then repeated the offense by asking:

“Did they hear me say motherfucker?”

Yes Evan, we heard you.

Shortly after this incident, the live stream was cut and Sixers Media Day 2013 concluded in radio silence.
