76ers unveil new uniforms

The Sixers unveiled new uniforms in front of an impressively large crowd at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday evening.

The uniforms themselves, a modern riff on a combination of a couple of the team's classic threads, are nice; crisp, clean, and cool. The inclusion of the stars down the side of the shorts is a nice touch, as is the return of 'PHILA' on the front.

The team is clearly trying to coordinate a re-brand with the uptick of the on-court rebuild, in hopes that these new uniforms will be associated with success, unlike the now-old ones, perhaps best known for Andrew Bynum never actually wearing one.

Perhaps even more impressive than the actual uniforms, which are now among the NBA's best, was the turnout for a simple jersey unveiling. The lines outside the Wells Fargo Center were hundreds deep with fans decked out in Sixers gear, excited to see the uniforms that the team will hopefully win a championship in.

For all of the national speculation about how the fan base would stop supporting the team due to Sam Hinkie's 'scheme', the opposite has actually occurred. Sixers fans are as tuned in and interested as they have been since the days when Iverson walked the arena in uniform, rather than baggy khakis and a black tee. They are excited for the future, and the possibility that it brings.

When that future comes, the Sixers will look good.
