At the Jeffery Osbourne Celebrity Softball Classic over the weekend, Sixers’ reigning Rookie of the Year, Michael Carter-Williams showed off some skills at another sport.

The Classic, which raises money for the Osbourne Foundation and the Pawtucket Red Sox Charitable Trust, was attended by several celebrities and athletes, both present and past, including several Laker legends like James Worthy, Kareeem Abdul-Jabaar, and Magic Johnson.

At one point in the contest, Carter-Williams found himself in the batter’s box, staring down opposing pitcher Magic Johnson; a player Carter-Williams has drawn comparisons to due to his size and the point guard position.

Johnson, who was standing several feet in front of the pitcher’s mound, lobbed a pitch toward Carter-Williams, who proceeded to blast it straight over the center field fence.

“And the results are in, homer center field #doIplaythewrongsport #MiniBoJackson,” Carter-Williams joked on his Instagram account under the posted video of the home run.

Though Carter-Williams had a bit more success on the diamond against Magic than he did against the Big East’s all-time leader in strikeouts, it seems safe to say that the productive point guard should stick with basketball; the Sixers need him.
